Short Term
TerraGuard erosion control blankets hold seed in place, while absorbing rainfall impact and wind forces. Their three-dimensional structure absorbs water while maintaining close contact with the soil. This provides the ideal environment for seed germination and reduces the risk of burn-out after germination. The organic materials (straw or coconut) decompose as the vegetation matures. Thereby providing the vegetation with necessary nutrients for growth. The blankets perform this in direct correlation with the site’s ability to re-vegetate itself. In cool, dry places where vegetation develops rapidly, the blanket will degrade faster. This process ensures the vegetation will receive nutrients as they are needed.
Long Term
Designed to reduce seed and soil loss and aid in the establishment of vegetation. Each blanket is stitched together using biodegradable thread and held together using photodegradable plastic netting. Applications include: slope stabilization, channel linings, bank protection, shoreline protection, and stormwater channel lining.
Jute/Coir Mat
TerraJute is a polypropylene fabric which controls erosion and enhances vegetation establishment on slopes and in channels. It shields soil and seeds from the erosive forces of rain and wind. The fabric’s open weave construction allows the passage of sunlight and moisture, providing a favorable environment for plant development.
TerraGuard Coir Matting is manufactured using high strength bristle coir twine which results in a semi-permanent erosion control blanket with a functional life of 4 to 6 years. Coir matting is intended for use on stream banks, on slopes, in channels and ditches.
